Journey to some of our area’s most unique farms with our very popular [3]Foodie-to-Farm series, or stay in the city and experience one of our best food markets, learning to prepare a tasty and seasonal meal at the side of a top chef with our new [4]Chef & Market Lunches! During the tour we will meet some of the farmers and vendors, talk about their growing methods and seasonal offerings and sample some of their wares. The chef will be able to answer questions you may have about some of the more unique vegetables and fruits sold at the market, offering tips for both storing and preparing them. Links: 5. http://www.elmwoodmarket.org 6. http://christaglennieseychew.com/writing Throughout the tour, the group, with the guidance of our chef, will gather the freshest of what’s in season (and maybe a few extra treats) before we make our way down the street to [7]Delish, Elmwood’s favorite cooking demonstration school and bakery. At Delish, our chef for the day will then lead us through a simple and impromptu lunch preparation using all of our market purchases. Finally, we will sit with cold lemonade and our fresh, farmers market meal and enjoy one another’s company. Links: 7. http://www.delishelmwood.com/school.php _Foodie-to-Farm Tours _ Our farm tours sell out every summer. We love that what started three summers ago as a way to connect chefs to our local harvest has become an annual series not only well-attended by our region’s top chefs, but also by foodies, health practitioners, nutritionists, culinary students and everyday people interested in seeing another side of WNY. With our unique and remarkable climate and prime soil ratings, it is no surprise that our 8,50 farms (most of which are small and family-owned) are a major contributor to our country’s food supply. In addition to a large dairy, maple and produce industry, we also are home to two wine trails, talented artisan foodmakers and a variety of farmers raising livestock. [8]Join us this summer for one of our three farm tours, where great meals prepared by chefs, farmer-led field walks, sampling and information about sustainability and our agrarian bounty will be discovered. Cocktail Party To Go!

Click to view this email in a browser http://hosted.verticalresponse.com/529639/b52b452d81/1668001653/eed622295a/ Looking for an affordable and elegant holiday party solution? ********************************************************************** http://cts.vresp.com/c/?FeedYourSoul/b52b452d81/eed622295a/c234b73c8d ********************************************************************** A Movable Feast from SAMPLE ********************************************************************** Chef Adam Goetz prides himself on using the freshest ingredients, and has partnered with local farmers using sustainable growing methods to insure this. Being a family man, he also knows how busy everyone is around the holidays, and so he developed this unique idea for you and yours—a Cocktail Party To Go . This new menu option makes festive gatherings simple and affordable for busy people. The concept is simple—with a mix and match menu, you and your party of 10 or more guests will enjoy a variety of offerings. First, select from a group of signature platters, including the carefully prepared Mediterranean platter with specialties like fresh hummus, spicy eggplant, pickled red onion and housemade black olive tapenade, or a similarly delicious but more traditional platter of artisan cheeses or fruit. Each of these is offered with crackers and good, crusty bread. You will be pleased to find that an assortment of handheld canapés and hors d’oeuvresalso accompany your movable feast. Offerings vary based on which package you select, but they include playful and tasty treats, some of which aren’t found on SAMPLE’s Current menu. Examples include: “Rice & Beans”, which is a mushroom risotto cake topped with a baby white bean salad, “Veal Oscar”, made of seared veal with a mini crab cake augmented with fried spinach and tomato confit, or the classic “Shrimp Cocktail”, modernized with a presentation which places tender baby shrimp in cucumber boats along with a mousse cocktail sauce. Finally, one of SAMPLE’s signature culinary cocktail mixers made from fresh and flavorful ingredients tops off the menu—you simply add the liquor! SAMPLE’s award-winning Honey Lavender Martini is available, as is the Autumn Martini (a fruity combination of apples and pears), the Pumpkin Martini (made with local pumpkins) or the refined and elegant fresh fruit puree, ideal for making bellinis with champagne or prosecco. SAMPLE’s Cocktail Party To Go starts at only $160 for 10 people and requires only a 48 hour notice. All of your party snacks will be wrapped and packaged with care, and anything that needs to be warmed in the oven comes with implicit and simple instructions anyone can follow. Perfect for holiday office parties, small intimate gatherings or full-scale formal cocktail parties, SAMPLE’s Cocktail Party To Go option is a winner. ********************************************************************** Details and full Party To Go menu available on SAMPLE’s website: www.sampleourrestaurant.com

You can knock on doors forever and never get to meet all the restaurateurs or farmers in other counties.” ~Pat LaPoint, Hill-n-Hollow Inc., Pavilion—2009 Conference Attendee “The bottom line is these farmers are producing a fantastic product, and they are pricing it very competitively to what you’d be paying if you used a big distributor. It’s a better product, it’s competitively priced and it’s fresher. It’s a win-win for everybody and I think all these restaurants are learning that now.” ~Adam Goetz, SAMPLE Restaurant, Buffalo—2009 Conference Attendee
